Post Doc Hiring Process
The steps to the post doc hiring process are listed below. You may also download this framework as a PDF.
Principal Investigator (PI)
- Determines the need for new hire in conjunction with the department chair/FAO.
 - Notifies FAO of need, Cc: division administrative analyst.
 
FAO
- Review and approve request.
 - Notifies Academic Affairs of need, cc: division administrative analyst.
 
Academic Affairs
- Has PI identified a candidate?
 - If no:
	
- Initiate advertising if applicable.
 - PI to review application, conduct interviews and choose candidate. Proceed to steps listed under "Yes."
 
 - If yes:
	
- Work with PI to determine level, salary, hiring timeline and visa needs.
 - Initiate employment authorization form, job description, and letter of expectation and return to PI and FAO for completion.
 
 
PI
- Complete form and return to Academic Affairs.
 
Academic Affairs
- Review form and documentation for accuracy.
 - Submit form and documentation SRP for review and approval.
 
SRP
- Review and approve.
 - Send to chair and FAO for review and approval.
 
Department Chair
- Review and approve and return to SRP.
 
SRP
- Return form to AA
 
Academic Affairs
- Create appointment letter and send to candidate
 - Once signed by candidate, submit employment authorization form, signed appointment letter, and CV to Human Resources via ServiceNow for the on-boarding process.
